When Aurelio Zanotta began his eponymous label in 1954, he revolutionized the largely utilitarian scope of local upholsterers and the monopoly they had on the production of sofas and armchairs, by recognizing that furniture design was a form of cultural expression.

His interest in emerging materials and technologies formed the basis for his collaborations with some of the now legendary icons of Italian design.

Today the Zanotta brand is known for its originality and innovation. Many of the brand’s products are recognized as true design icons design and are even referenced in academic books and exhibited in the most prestigious decorative arts institutions around the world.
