CASA Magda: A Stunning Modern Villa in North Athens
Casa Magda, a residential project in the northern suburbs of Athens, was created by Greek architecture firm, Kokosalaki|Architecture, to provide a rich experiential lifestyle with an introverted feel.
External and internal features play together in a juxtaposition of transparency and solid that contrast and enhance, at the same time.
Stepping through the laser-cut metallic façade and beyond the oversized entrance door, one can’t help but instantly feel enveloped by a surrounding hush. This is in part thanks to the natural light that floods the space through the large openings towards the swimming pool in the back, the operable skylights and the open-air central courtyard.
A metallic central staircase dramatically spirals towards the upper floors, dominating the main living space and providing a sculptural focal point that melds art with functional architectural element.
Naturally, the furnishings also have a flair for the dramatic and are beautifully chosen to add to the harmony of the space as well as to enhance the lives of its residents.
Several of our favorite pieces from Roche Bobois can be found throughout. Walking in to the main living area one is greeted by the sculptural Aqua Dining Table and Tournicoti Chairs in the foreground; meanwhile, two large 3-seat Préface Sofas with contrast pipping comfortably dominate the foreground of the living room.
To the left of the same open space and beside the aforementioned dramatic staircase, a large Intermede 3-seat Sofa and two Dot Armchairs create an additional seating nook that is as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as it is to the ease of its residents.
All of these elements—from the meticulous architectural details, to the stunning interior décor—all coexist beautifully, providing the perfect stage for residents and their guests to live a life of serene privacy in a dramatic environment.
